Solid Entertainments is delighted to announce that Harpenden Folk, Roots & World Music Festival, will be taking place at Harpenden Public Halls on Saturday 27th August 2016

As our first festival of this kind in Harpenden, we wanted to showcase the quality of live music in the UK and present a line-up with at least one legendary name…………plus a surprise or two.  We think we have achieved this and with Lindisfarne headlining, a mix of household names and emerging artists; this will most definitely be a festival to remember and one not to miss!

Lindisfarne, the unforgettable 70s folk-rock pioneers return to form with a classic six-piece line up of long-time members, fronted by original founder-member Rod Clements on vocals, mandolin, fiddle and slide guitar.

With a repertoire of magical songs like Meet Me On The Corner, Fog On The Tyne, Lady Eleanor and Run For Home and a reputation for live performance second to none, Lindisfarne’s power to galvanise festival and concert audiences remains undimmed and is guaranteed to get the crowd on its feet and singing along

Words alone cannot convey the magical sounds they created and the only way to truly experience this, is by seeing them live. But for a taste of music history and what this band is all about, please have a look and listen to Lindisfarne TV at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gkTHoAk-eA&feature=youtu.be&list=PL3EEB94938FBCE85F

The full line-up comprises of:

  • Lindisfarne – during the early ’70s, they were one of the hottest folk-based rockbands in England and with their continuing story, the Lindisfarne family is still wowing audiences wherever they play!
  • Julie Felix – there are those who just have to play and sing; to whom there can be no question of quitting; to whom their work is not a job but a calling…….. Julie Felix is one such musician!
  • Dexeter – playing three shows at the O2 in London to wonderful acclaim including receiving the only standing ovation at Bob Harris’s Under The Apple Tree stage, what more is to be said!
  • Polly And The Billets Doux – their energy-filled live performances and genre-defying quartet boast a genius blend of Folk, Pop, Rock N’ Roll, Soul, Country, Blues and even Gospel!
  • Linda Em – her lyrical narrative has a nostalgic feel to it bringing back the early days of Woodstock, with some saying that she has an old soul for such a young woman!
  • Said The Maiden – three friends who discovered a mutual love of folk music and sing traditional songs from around the UK and America, often in three part acapella harmony!
  • Delta Ladies – a sound that draws on American & European Roots music, folk, world and bluegrass influences and retains just a shade of blues to create a highly individual and exotic style!

There is no doubt that this will be a great days entertainment and memorable day in Lincolnshire
