When this news gets out, there will undoubtedly be an air of excitement in and around Bristol

We are delighted to announce, that Bristol Folk Festival will be reaffirming its place in the UK festival calendar, when it returns to the city over the May Bank Holiday, on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 May this year!

With a move to two different indoor venues – St Georges Bristol and Bristol Folk House – both well known and respected neighbours in Bristol, festival goers are guaranteed a “rain free” event that will feature the cream of British Folk artists!

Some of the hottest names in the business will be stepping on the stages, including the legendary British musicians Fairport Convention, who will be headlining on the St Georges Stage on Sunday night.  Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention remain one of the most entertaining bands on the live music scene.  The band has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport’s ground-breaking album Liege & Lief ‘The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time’!

As mighty as Fairport, Spiers & Boden, a multi award-winning duo will be headlining on the same stage on Saturday night and this occasion forms part of their Farewell TourWinners of the Best Duo category at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2004 and 2006, and a Critic’s choice nomination at the BBC World Music Awards, John & Jon are also founding members of the wildly ambitious eleven piece big-band folk phenomenon, Bellowhead BBC Folk Awards for Best Live Act in 2005, 2007, 2008, Observer Top 20 albums of 2007!
