The ICMP was very excited to present an exclusive songwriting masterclass with the incredible singer/songwriter Amy Studt on Wednesday, 11th November at The Half Moon, Putney, prior to her headline gig featuring support from ICMP students. The masterclass focused on Amy’s extensive experience in the music industry, her ‘method’ of songwriting and insight into her new musical direction.
Currently writing for Kylie Minogue, Amy hit fame at age 16 with help from Simon Fuller (Spice Girls) and his company ’19 Management’, who helped Amy to get signed to Polydor and record her debut album which found huge success in the UK and the United States with the single ‘Just A Little Girl’. With comparisons to Kate Bush and earning praise for her new material by MOJO, Music Week, LA Times and Sunday Times, Amy is now an independent artist and has toured with hugely successful indie band, Razorlight.
Both the masterclass and gig made for an educational and inspiring evening. ICMP students Caitlin Kelly, the 2009 Shure Creative Songwriting Award winner Zemmy, and Guitar Institute alumni Martin Newnham, were excited to be supporting Amy before she played an acoustic set featuring both old and new tracks.
