“Ashley Hutchings is the single most important figure in English folk-rock” – Bob Dylan

From Psychedelia to Sonnets is a words and music show in which Ashley tells his story from the world of late sixties rock, through traditional folk music, and theatre music to his work as a fine lyricist and poet. He reads from his book Words, Words, Words and together with Becky Mills sings songs from his illustrious history as original member or band leader of groups such as Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, The Albion Band and the Rainbow Chasers.  He was also a music director at London’s National Theatre for four years and has interesting stories to tell of that time.

Ashley invited one of his favourite singer-musicians to join him in this presentation. Many will remember Becky Mills as an outstanding singer and guitarist who has appeared in the area before a number of times, often with Ken Nicol.  She joins Ashley in this uniquely entertaining evening.

“An inspired work from start to finish, full of fascinating twists and turns” – BBC Music.

A new  live double- album has recently been released by Talking Elephant Records of this show, under the same title of the performance.
