Oxnard, CA – June 11th, 2013 – Drum! Magazine, DrumChannel.com and the Chad Smith Drum App are inviting drummers of all ages— and from virtually everywhere on the planet— to participate in “Chad Smith’s Bombastic Drum Contest”. To enter, drummers simply have to download one of three, free, “minus-drums” Bombastic Meatbats tracks, record and post a play-along video drum cover on YouTube, and sign-up on drumchannel.com, the site that was recently selected as the “world’s best drum education website” by the readers of Drum! Magazine.
The ten top videos as determined by popular vote as well as ten additional “Wild Card” entries will be judged by Chad Smith (drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chickenfoot and The Bombastic Meatbats) along with an all-star panel made up of today’s leading drummers, including Terry Bozzio, Gregg Bissonette, Thomas Lang, Stephen Perkins and others.
The Grand Prize winner of the drumming competition will receive a free trip to Los Angeles where he or she will meet Chad, sit in with the Bombastic Meatbats on a live Drum Channel webcast, and take home $1,000’s in gear from Pearl, Sabian, Remo, Vater and Jammit. Second place, Third place and ten Runner-Up winners will receive a selection of drum prizes while everyone who enters the contest will receive a “Chad Smith Drum App Digital Good-eBag” featuring electronic content and access from participating sponsors.
Chad Smith’s Bombastic Drum Contest will be featured in Drum! Magazine and on DrumChannel.com from May through September 2013. Contest dates and activities are:
• Entries open June 1 to July 31.
• Public voting open June 15 to August 15.
• Final judging from August 16 to August 31.
• Winners announcement and performance live on a special Drum Channel webcast.
